Padlet for Video-Based Discussions

Padlet now offers video-based discussions, allowing students to respond via video, audio, screen recording, or text, all without having to register. Teachers can organize participation requiring video responses and directly embed prompts, readings, or text. Depending on your subscription level, you can set different recording time limits (e.g., up to 15 minutes on Platinum plans), with student-friendly access on free accounts up to the teacher’s limit.

Padlet also auto-generates captions in 99 languages and enables caption uploads/downloads. Additionally, there are moderation features that scan audio/video for inappropriate content, with options for automatic or manual approval, plus privacy controls like password protection. Learn more here.

Tom’s Take: When Fligrid discontinued its service about a year ago, it created a massive void in online video-based student discussion tools. Padlet AI is more than ably filling that gap with an excellent range of free and accessible video-discussion tools.
